We had potentially been going to play out this plot (which was a book I read in college) on the old board, but it never got started. Would anyone like to use and/or create characters for this?
A girl has 2 of her siblings murdered. (This is not a kidnapping and happens right in their backyard.) If I remember correctly, she is 12 and the murdered sisters are 10 and 8. Her parents are so distraught after the murder that she runs away, thinking that she can't spend the rest of her life there languishing like her parents. She makes a fake ID, dyes her hair, the works. The murderer is a schizophrenic and not in his right mind at the time of the murders, but this only happens once. He marries and has a child (2 by the end of the book). Ironically, her first job is babysitting for that child, even though she is halfway across the country by then. Her parents forgave the killer, but she cannot. She is there to revenge her sisters(While she is gone the parents have 2 more kids)
Meanwhile, a childhood friend of hers (who has a different religion) and she are falling in love..

Main character- Female, 12 at beginning, sees murder of sisters, smart, wants to be a doctor (so does love interest!)
Parents (Both older, have had many miscarriages) Dad is a college professor, mom is a professional artist who works from home, mom is a worrywart, dad is the strong one. (I must say though, that with 3-4 miscarriages prior to her first child, she has every right to be one!)
Sister #1- 10, likes typing, good in school
Sister #2 8, likes dressing up, cute, snuggly, kind of daydreamy
Brother #1 Cute, but quiet, bookwormish, says adorable things, is mostly raised by main charrie till she decides she can't take it anymore.
Brother #2 Stoic, likes playing games like Robin Hood, etc, the "little man" of the house.
(Both born later)
Love interest- Childhood friend, different religion than main charrie. At first she tells herself she is not in love with him, or rather, not allowed to be, because of her religion. Then she says to heck with that!
Best Friend #1- young, amazingly good singer (later gets a career), doesn't approve of love interest of her friend because they are different religions. She shocks people at the funeral by singing a song that is inappropriate for a funeral in all but the eyes of the sister. She and main charrie are together for the last time the night Brother #1 is born, then she leaves for awhile to start her singing career. - booksandmusic97
Best Friend #2 younger sister of love interest, knows and approves of their relationship, but of course it's her brother so one part of her is like "Ewww!"
Murderer- Schizophrenic but apparently doesn't realize anything is wrong with him. late 20's-early 30's. Goes to a mental institution instead of jail. Gets out soon with some medicine to help him.
Wife- late 20's, pretty, naive, loving
Daughter- Newborn, later ages, a cute baby and an even prettier child, her name is something unusual.
Lady- The owner of the bed and breakfast where main charrie stays, grandma-like, never had kids.
College friend #1- guy, funny like a brother to main charrie. Ironically he is one of her first cases as an EMT (I don't remember exactly how he got sick, but she had to give him CPR.
College friend #2- Girl, again doesn't get the attraction between main charrie and love interest, but really has no room to talk as she's dating outside HER religion too!
Main charrie also gets a pet horse. She loves riding but is not good at it. When she falls off is when she and love interest realize they're in love.

Of course, we wouldn;t have to play out too much of the aging of characters I mentioned. They could be a family (and other characters in case of friends, grandma-lady, etc. we also play with in general here, not just ones specifically created for a certain story.The college students mentioned could even be played anywhere, like we have Graciela and Eliza.
