Celine is on the computer again. She has been thinking about baby names for awhile. All her life, really- the Greek Orthodox Church has so many unusual names on their saint calendar! But especially now that she's had kids, all of that thinking about names matters, not only for this baby, but any future children. Finn, Verity, Anastasia, and Adrian were names that had meaning to them, Adrian being in part for Finn's biological father, but as she looks down at her necklace Theo gave her earlier this month, she realizes that at least for their biological children, they have at least somewhat unwittingly gone with a letter theme! Not that it should matter when a name is special to someone, but Celine is chuckling at herself right now.
With that being said, she has been looking at names with their meanings a lot, both in books and on the Internet. Some of her favorites are: (OOC: But I'm leaving Micah for Viktor and Isis because Viktor had liked it when discussing names for Yuri. And I can't find my name lists right now, so if you think of any more nice ones let me know. I like a good many of these, so maybe we should roll a die to see if it's a boy or girl closer to the due date and then they can have another later.)
Josiah- "Jehovah heals"
Nathan- "God has given"
Nathan- "God has given"
Anthony- "Priceless" in Latin, but in the Greek sense also derived in part from the female name Anthea, which means "blooming." Despite it being another A name, she can't help thinking about it, for, as they are sometimes called, a "rainbow baby."
Steven- (for Tanner's middle name) "Crowned" because when a Greek athlete was crowned with laurels they meant victory.
Isaac -"Laughter"
Jeffrey - " divine peace, God's peace"
Jeffrey - " divine peace, God's peace"
Ezekiel- "Strength of God"
Malachi "My angel"
Malachi "My angel"
Ezra "help"
Christopher "Christ-bearer"
Jasper "bringer of treasure"
Laurel (for the same reason as Steven)
Grace
Mercedes- "Mercies" (His mercies are new every morning....)
Eliana- My God has heard me
Eliora- My God is light (The Lord is my light and the rock of my salvation, whom shall I fear....)
(but obviously, they likely wouldn't be using those two together!)
Nyssa - Greek for "beginning"
Faith, or Imani- "faith", but she's leaning towards Imani for its Swahili origin.
Leilani- "Heavenly flower" for basically the same reason as Anthony.
Naomi -Hebrew for "pleasantness"
Abigail- "Father's joy"- another A name she can't resist.
Elspeth "My God is bountiful"
Margaret/Mairead (MAY-red) "Pearl"
Lydia (Several meanings: "Woman from Lydia," as well as "Standing pool" because clean water is precious, as well as being a musical term (A Lydian is a musical mode based on the fourth tone of a major scale)
Ophelia (Greek pronunciation is oh-FELL-ya) "help"
Risa- Latin for "smile" and Spanish for "laughter."
